What this app does

Coffee Recs is a Shopify app that adds a product-recommendation widget to your storefront. Shoppers answer a short quiz about coffee preferences; the app matches their answers to products in your catalog and displays suggestions.

Data we collect from merchants

• OAuth session data — when you install Coffee Recs, Shopify grants us an access token. We store this token (along with your shop domain and basic account details returned by Shopify) to authenticate subsequent API calls. This data is held in our database and deleted when you uninstall the app.

Data we collect from your customers

None. Quiz answers are processed in real-time on our server to rank your products and are never stored, logged, or transmitted to third parties. We do not set cookies for storefront visitors, and we do not use any customer analytics or tracking.

If you enable the “save profile” option in the theme editor, quiz answers are saved to the visitor’s own browser (localStorage) on their device only — not on our servers.

Product catalog access

To generate recommendations the widget fetches your store’s public product list from https://<your-shop>/products.json — a Shopify endpoint that is already publicly available to anyone on the internet. No private customer or order data is accessed.

Data retention

Merchant session data is deleted automatically when you uninstall the app. We honour Shopify’s mandatory GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and will delete any associated data within 30 days of a verified request.

Third-party services

The recommendation widget loads Google Fonts (Cormorant Garamond and Jost) from Google’s CDN. Google’s font service may log the requesting IP address. You can disable font loading in the theme editor.
